The purpose of the San Bernardino Metro Nexus Group is to convene key partners from education, business, community, public sector and funders who have an interest in the San Bernardino region to address healthcare workforce pipeline needs, break down barriers for local students to enter the health career pipeline and expand opportunities in health career education pathways and college for local students. The group is focused on increasing opportunity for local under-served and/or under-represented minority students.

The purpose of the WE (West end of San Bernardino/East end of Los Angeles counties) Health Professions Nexus group is to network and engage area health-focused business, schools and partners to support health pathway development and increase the number of K-10 students participating in work-based learning opportunities.

5 Identified Gaps In Current Pathway Programs:

• Lack of middle school involvement in career pathways
• Insufficient pathway marketing which would allow students, parents, and businesses to meaningfully collaborate, strengthen, and help develop these programs.
• Inadequate connections between elementary, middle schools and community colleges to create seamless healthcare pipelines.
• Lack of student awareness around lesser known, high demand health professions in the Inland Region.
• Lack of connection between healthcare pipeline students and area employers resulting in a need for work-based learning opportunities.

The purpose of the Riverside Regional Nexus (RRN) is to support the development of a diverse health workforce pipeline. This Nexus group will focus on the growth of the health pipeline programs for the Corona, Jurua Valley, Moreno Valley, Norco and Riverside area.

The purpose of the Innovation Valley Nexus is to connect education, community and innovation in the investment of the healthcare industry.
